Introductory readings and videos that will help you out on the floor (Google Drive link below). This is not an exhaustive list, but it will serve as a good foundation for your first few weeks on the floor/stroke. Even if you don’t have time to read these immediately, try to read an article whenever you have a break, and all this knowledge will accumulate!

  • Localization in Clinical Neurology: This book will be a helpful review prior to your weekly Stroke Morning Report Conference. It is not intended to be read cover-to-cover.
  • Plum and Posner’s Diagnosis of Stupor and Coma: Critical read for your neuro-ICU rotation. Highly recommend reading the first 10 pages on the definitions of states of consciousness and chapter 2: the examination of the comatose patient.
